This painting of Ross and the portrait of Nick both practice runs for figures in the Newtown Last Supper,
Ross was a Nazi skinhead for a period in his youth, now he is kind of an antithesis to one, growing his hair to the ground like a sadhu, and turning the SS Nazi tatts into a Maori-influenced moko.
Pastor Brian wanted Ross as an apostle, but got a bit alarmed when I cast him as Jesus. "Don't make Roscoe Jesus, make Jesus Jesus". It was the only interference I had in painting it though. I was sorry for Roscoe and didn't like breaking the news to him. Anyway Byron, who looks like a Serbian Jesus, became Jesus and Roscoe got shuffled up to the end of the table as Bartholemew. I snuck his ferret Sammy in, tied to a dreadlock and ferreting round(probably biting), at his feet
